The U.S. Embassy in Bahrain has issued an urgent security alert warning American citizens to avoid hotels in Manama following a confirmed attack on the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the Bahraini capital.
In a security update released Sunday, the embassy confirmed that the hotel was struck earlier in the day, resulting in injuries. U.S. government personnel have since been moved from hotels to other secured locations, as concerns increase over the risk of additional attacks targeting civilian and hospitality facilities.
The embassy warned that hotels may remain high-risk targets amid escalating regional tensions and urged U.S. citizens currently in Bahrain to exercise extreme caution.
According to the advisory, residents were instructed to immediately seek cover if explosions or warning sirens are heard, move to the lowest and most protected parts of buildings, and stay away from windows and exterior walls. Individuals outdoors were advised to find hardened shelter or lie flat and protect their heads if no cover is available.
The alert also cautioned that even intercepted missiles or drones can still pose serious danger, as falling debris may cause injuries or fatalities after air defense systems are activated.
U.S. citizens were further advised to avoid demonstrations, large gatherings, and areas with heavy security presence, while closely monitoring official information and following instructions from local authorities.
The warning comes amid rising instability across the Gulf region, with heightened security threats and increased military activity affecting civilian infrastructure and international travel.
