The Federal Capital Territory Senator-elect, Ireti Kingibe, has promised to continue with the legacies of the outgoing senator, Philip Aduda, regardless of their political differences.

She gave the assurance during a media conference to appreciate FCT residents, for voting her into the Senate, at just concluded presidential elections held February 25.

Kingibe said, “The FCT had several Senators before me and they have all given their input into making FCT what it is today. My predecessor has given FCT his best in the last 12 years, and I thank him. I will like him to know that I’m willing to continue to work from wherever he stopped.

“I will reach out to other contestants and make them understand that this whole thing is not me. If we all join hands, we can move FCT to places that it has not been before. I am ready to work with everybody, irrespective of their political parties that contested with me.

“I am very ready to take their ideas and whatever they have done or they want, am willing to work with them to get those things done.

“I want all of them to consider me as their Senator. They don’t have to show an attitude that ‘oh, she is opposition or she’s not in my party.’ I am a Senator for everybody, regardless of party, and I want them to know that,” Kingibe remarked.

She added that all political parties in the FCT should see FCT as a mother for states in the country.

The Senator-elect stated, “When things are needed, we will throw it open to everybody, and we hope to give it to the best-qualified persons, regardless of where they’re coming from.”

Speaking on her political journey, she narrated: “When I started in 2003, I didn’t know anything. I mean, I knew nothing about politics, because I was on the sidelines when my husband was running for different offices. But in terms of contesting myself, some special women gave me support in their different ways.”

The politician who also lauded former FCT Senator, Khairat Abdulrazaq–Gwadabe, and the late Maryam Babangida, meanwhile, described the mother of the current FCT Senator, Jumai Aduda, as one of those who made the journey easier and smooth for her, among others.
