His Excellency, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, on Thursday, presided over the grand opening of the newly established secretariat for the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria. The commissioning ceremony, held in Abuja, marked another milestone in strengthening the collaborative role of former state executives in Nigeria’s democratic development.
Senator Wamakko, who served as the Chairman of the event, delivered a keynote address where he commended the board members and the Executive Committee for their dedication and commitment in building the forum into a credible institution.
“Let us continue to work together towards a brighter future for Nigeria,” he urged, emphasizing unity and purpose among public leaders.
The event attracted several distinguished guests, including Hon. Minister of State for Works, Barrister Bello Muhammad Goronyo, Hon. Bala Abubakar III, member representing Sokoto North/South; Hon. Ahmad Kalambaina, member representing Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency; Hon. Nasiru Shehu Bodinga, member representing Bodinga/Dange Shuni/Tureta Federal Constituency; and Hon. Ibrahim Raba, member representing Raba/Wurno Federal Constituency, among others.
The new secretariat is expected to serve as a hub for engagement, policy dialogue, and mentorship among former deputy governors, with the aim of supporting governance innovation and democratic stability across Nigeria.
