Ahead of the 2023 UTME, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has held an interactive virtual meeting with its Technical Officers, Biometric Verification Reporting (BVR) Officers, and State Chief Technical Advisors, to review the challenges encountered at the just-concluded 2023 Mock-UTME as well as intimate them on the changes made to forestall any other hiccups in the upcoming 2023 UTME scheduled to take place later in the month.
The update came on the heels of the call by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, to examination officials to put in their best to achieve tremendous success in the upcoming rescheduled mock examination, adding that the examination should be regarded as a call to national duty.
The Registrar, who made this known during the virtual meeting, which hosted from the Board’s National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja, on Thursday, 13th April, 2023, said the purpose of the briefing was to update examination officials on innovations and policies put in place by the Board to curb examination malpractice. He appealed to all officials to put in their best.
“I am appealing to you all not to fail and if at all any failure is recorded during our outing, it should not come through any of you. Rather you are enjoined to be part of the success story,” he stated.
Prof. Oloyede disclosed that one of the amendment to its extant policies was the extension of the examination start time from 60mins to 90mins. He explained that in effect, any examination session that fails to start 90 minutes after the scheduled start time, stands rescheduled.
He, however, reiterated that candidates affected by any technical hiccups in the course of taking their examination should remain calm as they would be informed by the Board with respect to their rescheduled date, time and venue for their examination. However, the Registrar explained that only candidates, who were, ab initio, verified but owing to technical challenges, could not take the examination or complete it, would be rescheduled and not those who were marked absent or unverified.
No fewer than 1,390 participants, comprising Technical Officers, State Technical Advisers, BVM Officers, and Service Providers, took part in the interactive session.
