Zamfara govt suspends operational licenses of all private schools


The Zamfara State government has suspended operational licenses of all the private schools in the state.

This was announced by the commissioner of education, Malam Wadatau Madawaki while speaking to newsmen in his office in Gusau, the state capital.
According to him, the decision to suspend the licenses of the private schools became necessary because out of the 761 private schools identified in the state, only 450 have licenses which were either expired, or were operating beyond the capacity of their licenses, or in unfriendly environments.

Madawaki further stated that over 300 schools are operating without licenses which is not healthy for learning, saying that government has mapped out strategy on how to regulate the activities of private schools to provide quality education.

He added the government has made adequate arrangements to revamp and revitalize the education sector in the state with a view to reposition the entire system for maximum out put through various intervention methods.

The commissioner said teachers in the state would be adequately considered for training and retraining in addition to timely promotion and payment of allowances and salaries to boost their morale.
