Police in Ogun State have captured three notorious members of a robbery gang terrorising phone market, known as Tarmac, on April 12, 2023.

During the incident, they murdered a trader and stole numerous phones. The apprehension of the suspects, namely Ajayi Kayode, Habeeb Idowu, and Temitayo Oresanya, took place on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The police received information from their detectives at Kemta divisional headquarters, indicating that the suspects were hiding in the Abule Ake area of Kemta to evade arrest.

Acting swiftly on the information, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Adeniyi Adekunle, the Divisional Police Officer of Kemta division, assembled his team and proceeded to the location, resulting in the arrest of the three suspects. Three of the suspects have already confessed to the crime, while the third suspect, Temitayo Oresanya, who claimed to be a member of the same cult group, admitted to joining the gang. Oresanya clarified that Ajayi Kayode and Habeeb Idowu sought refuge at his house in Abule Ake after their robbery activities.

The arrest was confirmed by the police commissioner through his Public Relations Officer, who also inspected the money seized from the criminals’ hideout. The suspects informed the police that they had been engaged in robbery for a significant period and had amassed substantial profits from their illicit activities. Furthermore, they boldly claimed that no amount of bullets could penetrate their bodies.
