The Imole Campaign Council, TICC, has challenged Bola Oyebamiji to give a full account of how more than ₦700 billion allegedly accrued to Osun State under the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola was utilised while he served as Commissioner for Finance.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, May 1, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the campaign council said Oyebamiji must answer questions about his stewardship before asking the people of Osun State to trust him with higher office.
According to TICC, the matter goes beyond politics, arguing that it speaks directly to Oyebamiji’s character, competence, and capacity for the governorship seat he is seeking.
The council alleged that despite the huge revenue receipts under the Oyetola administration, Osun workers, pensioners, and ordinary residents did not feel the expected impact in welfare, infrastructure, or broad development.
“Under the Gboyega Oyetola-led administration, accruals to Osun stood at over ₦700 billion, yet these humongous receipts failed to serve the people as both development of the state and especially welfare of the state workforce suffered greatly,” the statement said.
TICC claimed that Oyebamiji, as finance commissioner at the time, directly supervised the use of the funds and therefore owes the people a convincing explanation.
The council further argued that the ₦700 billion received during the period would be worth nearly ₦2 trillion in today’s value and should have been enough to make a visible difference in the lives of residents.
It accused the former APC administration of poor handling of workers’ welfare, claiming that unpaid half salaries were treated like “bad loans” while pensioners were left to suffer over accumulated entitlements.
The statement also alleged that career progression for workers was stalled during the period, while promotions approved by the Oyetola administration were not backed with financial benefits.
TICC added that workers in the state had to wait for about 18 months before the implementation of the minimum wage, a situation it said badly affected families across Osun.
On infrastructure, the campaign council accused the past administration of abandoning inherited projects because of politics and executing some projects through what it described as the Alternative Project Funding Approach, APFA.
It alleged that the arrangement gave contractors room to inflate project costs, deliver poor-quality work, and leave the state to bear heavy interest costs on loans taken for the projects.
“In light of the abysmal record of governance by the past administration, we are constrained to echo the questions of Osun people to Oyebamiji: what happened to public funds under his watch as Commissioner for Finance?” the statement added.
The council said Oyebamiji had already been given an opportunity to prove himself in government but failed to demonstrate the kind of leadership required to govern the state.
Rather than seeking the mandate of Osun people, TICC said, Oyebamiji should apologise for what it described as his role in the hardship experienced under the previous administration.
The statement praised Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying his administration had made progress in addressing what it called the failures inherited from the Oyetola government.
TICC said Osun people had resolved to continue on what it described as the path of progress by supporting Governor Adeleke in the August 15 governorship election.
The campaign council also used the occasion of Workers’ Day to congratulate Osun workers for their contributions to peace, stability, and development.
It assured the workforce that Governor Adeleke would continue to treat workers as partners in the development of the state and prioritise their wellbeing.
