Joshua Obika, the House of Representatives member representing FCT’s AMAC-Bwari Federal Constituency, has called for an overhaul of security architecture in the Federal Capital Territory, following a spate of criminality in the nation’s capital.

Obika made the call while speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.

He claimed some areas beneath bridges have been completely overran by criminals.

He said he had received multiple instances of people being monitored and picked up in front of their gates.

“As if these were not enough, another dimension to the criminality has been introduced by hoodlums who mob passers-by upon choreographed fake alarms of missing genitals,” he said.

He added that crooks take advantage of the ensuing confusion to rob unsuspecting victims of their cell phones and belongings.

According to the legislator, no class of people has been spared in the criminality, and no one knows who will be the next victim.

He said Abuja is no longer safe, and citizens are concerned that the city’s security is slipping through their fingers.

He urged the government to act quickly to restore the hope of both inhabitants and investors in Abuja.
