Luis Enrique wants Borussia Dortmund to go on and win the Champions League after they knocked his PSG side out in the semi-finals.

The French champions were favourites to reach the final but suffered two 1-0 defeats to Dortmund, the first in Germany and the second in Paris, to exit at the semi-final stage.

Borussia Dortmund are only fifth in the Bundesliga – 24 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen – but shut out PSG twice to reach their first Champions League final since they were beaten finalists in 2013.

Dortmund did lift the trophy in 1997 and will now face Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in next month’s final, with the other semi poised at 2-2 ahead of Wednesday’s second leg at the Bernabeu.

Enrique described PSG’s defeat to Borussia Dortmund as ‘so unfair’ after watching his side squander a number of chances and hit the woodwork six times across the tie.

The former Spain and Barcelona boss now ‘hopes’ Dortmund beat either Madrid of Bayern to lift the Champions League trophy at Wembley on June 1.

‘When the result is that, yes it’s difficult of course,’ a dejected Enrique told TNT Sports.

‘A tight match, but to be honest I think we have to win the match. We created 31 shots, four [times hitting the woodwork] – football is so unfair sometimes.

‘But congratulations to them. They are a great team, they did a great job and I hope they can go to the final and win it.’

Dortmund boss Edin Terzic, meanwhile, described his team’s performance in the French capital as ‘outstanding’ and said he could not wait for the final.

‘Proud if I have to find one word,’ he said. ‘It is a very proud moment for us and the dream is not over yet.

‘I think we suffered a lot, but we showed a very good away game against a team that is so powerful up front, quick and mobile.

‘We won both games in the semi-final. This is unbelievable. It was an outstanding performance and we are looking forward to the final.’
