The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has appointed Professor Abubakar Jika Jiddere as its new spokesperson.
Professor Jiddere replaces Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, who now serves as the forum’s director of NGOs and CSOs.
The appointment, approved by the forum’s convener and chairman of the Board of Trustees, Professor Ango Abdullahi, was announced in a statement by the chairman of NEF’s Management Board, A.M. Al-Amin Daggash (Rtd). The forum commended Professor Jiddere as a distinguished academic whose dedication and expertise align with the group’s vision for Northern progress.
In his acceptance speech, Jiddere expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, reaffirming his commitment to the forum’s goals.
“I humbly accept my appointment as the spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum,” he said. “The Forum remains a non-partisan organisation committed to articulating the interests of Northern Nigeria while fostering unity and national development. I pray for Allah’s guidance as I undertake this responsibility.”
The Northern Elders Forum congratulated Professor Jiddere on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead its public communication efforts effectively.
