Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, have rescued two kidnap victims following a swift response to a kidnapping incident in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The troops carried out the rescue operation in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN).
The Suspected terrorists on Wednesday evening invaded the Ijalu area of Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting a woman and her toddler.
The victims were identified as Mrs Idowu Kemi Titilayo and her young child, who were reportedly taken away during the raid along the Solid Rock School axis of the community.
The incident occurred in the late hours of 3 June 2026 when terrorists invaded a residence near Solid Rock School in Ijalu, Egbe and abducted five members of a family, including a woman, her infant child and three others.
The Army, in a statement on Thursday, 4th June, confirmed the development, but added that the victims have been successfully rescued after the troops launched a rescue operation based on a distress call.

The statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said upon receiving the distress report, troops immediately mobilized in conjunction with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and launched a pursuit operation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route.
He confirmed that the victims were successfully rescued and returned to their residence, while the troops have intensified efforts towards tracking down the fleeing attackers.

“The sustained pressure mounted by the security team forced the terrorists to abandon Mrs Adekemi Idowu and her six month old child near Oro axis before fleeing into the surrounding area.
“The rescued victims were safely returned to their residence, while troops have continued aggressive search operations aimed at rescuing the remaining victims and apprehending the perpetrators.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting lives and property and urges members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations,” the statement added.
