The Labour Presidential candidate Peter Obi yesterday canceled his scheduled parley with the Southwest Development Stakeholders Forum SWDSF for security reasons.
As at the time his chopper landed in Ibadan at noon, , protesters had gone riotous in the city. The soldiers were called in to restore peace however a youth lost his life.
Earlier on the Governor of the state Seyi Makinde had banned all forms of public processions including political rallies.
The SWDSF in its statement explained thus:
*SWDSF STATEMENT ON MR. PETER OBI’S PARLEY WITH THE SOUTH WEST DEVELOPMENT STAKEHOLDERS FORUM IN IBADAN. 4TH FEBRUARY 2023.*
The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, arrived Ibadan, at 12.42 pm for his Parley with the South West Development Stakeholders Forum (SWDSF).
However, shortly after disembarking from the helicopter that brought him, he held discussions with his Campaign officials, and left thereafter.
Sources close to Mr. Obi said there were concerns about security.
