Gov Abdullahi advocates law to reposition mining sector

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has called for a more realistic and sustainable law to reposition the mining sector.

He also stressed the need for reemphasising that Nigeria’s future lies in solid minerals and agriculture.

Governor Sule made the assertion while hosting the members of the House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals at the Government House, Lafia, the state capital, on Sunday.

According to him, “A holistic review of the various aspects concerning mineral deposits in the country, with a view to evolving a homegrown solution that will consider the peculiarities of each of the states of the federation.”

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Solid Minerals, Mr. Gaza Jonathan Gbefwi, stated that Nasarawa State, being the home of solid minerals, is the first port of call for the committee.
