Gender based violence: Osun governor’s wife, NAPTIP launch pact

Wife of the Osun Governor, Titilola Adeleke has solicited for a robust working relationship with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP.

Adeleke made the advocacy during a visit to the NAPTIP, Osun Zonal Command in Osogbo on Wednesday.

“My aim for visiting is to seek a robust relationship with NAPTIP in respect of the upcoming sixteen-days activism campaign against gender based violence which will begin on Saturday, November 25.

“Waging war against the life threatening act of gender based violence needs collaborative efforts of all and sundry,” she said.

The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Ajiegwu Chinedu, while appreciating the efforts of the Osun governor’s wife for taking up the responsibility of freeing Osun from all forms of violence against humanity, stressed that NAPTIP is always ready to collaborate with both government and Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, to make the society safe.

“We have had a series of atrocities such as organ harvesting, human trafficking, among others, being perpetrated by unscrupulous elements before the establishment of NAPTIP,” he said.

While warning hoodlums to steer clear of the state, the Osun NAPTIP boss added that the long arm of the law will catch up with anyone caught in the act of human trafficking and engaging in gender based violence.
