…Launches “The Nigerian Project” and DTN @2.0 to Bridge Heritage and Digital Innovation

LAGOS, Nigeria —  In a landmark moment for Nigerian journalism and national identity, Folio Communications Plc, publishers of Daily Times Nigeria, has officially unveiled the Daily Times @100 Centenary Celebration, marking a century of one of the nation’s most storied newspaper brands and introducing a bold new vision for the future of journalism in Africa.

The announcement, made at a World Press Conference held at the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN) Conference Room in Lagos, showcased two groundbreaking initiatives — The Nigerian Project and DTN @2.0, both designed to merge Daily Times’ historic legacy with the demands of modern digital storytelling.

Founded in 1926, Daily Times Nigeria has stood as a mirror of Nigeria’s evolution — chronicling events from colonial rule to independence, military regimes to democratic transitions — and nurturing generations of journalists who helped define the nation’s media and political identity.

“The Daily Times is not just a newspaper; it is an institution that has told Nigeria’s story for a hundred years. This centenary is both a reflection and a renewal of purpose, identity, and vision,”

Anosike stated.

“Through The Nigerian Project and DTN @2.0, we are reimagining what national media can achieve when heritage meets innovation.”

Reimagining Nigeria’s Story

At the heart of the centenary celebration is The Nigerian Project, a visionary platform leveraging the newspaper’s rich archives to reposition Nigeria’s global image through authentic storytelling and cultural reinvention.

Anosike emphasized that the project would serve as a national anchor for positive narratives, deploying one of the most extensive archives of Nigerian history to reconnect the nation’s identity with factual and inspiring journalism.

“Nigeria’s story is too important to be told inaccurately. We are deploying 100 years of authentic documentation to redefine how Nigeria is seen and understood, both at home and abroad,”

he said.

A Digital Future for Nigerian Journalism

Folio Communications also announced the rollout of DTN @2.0, a global digital newsroom connecting Nigerian journalism with the African diaspora and global audiences. The upgraded platform — set for launch on June 25, 2026 — will feature multimedia storytelling, data-driven reporting, and a restructured newsroom designed to sustain credible journalism in the digital age.

The company revealed plans to attract a global investment firm and rally 100 Nigerian enterprises as centenary partners, fostering collaboration that drives innovation, cultural pride, and sustainability in media.

“Our goal is to make Daily Times the global standard for African journalism in the digital age — credible, creative, and commercially sustainable,”

Anosike added.

Training the Next Generation

Complementing these initiatives is the launch of the Folio Media and Creative Academy (FMCA), aimed at training over 50,000 journalists, students, and creatives in digital storytelling and media innovation.

The FMCA Impact Series will feature notable media icons including Ambassador Dele Cole, Aremo Segun Osoba, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, and Dr. Onyema Ugochukwu, who will mentor participants and help restore professionalism in journalism.

A Century of Legacy, A Future of Innovation

The centenary celebration will run from October 2025 to June 2026, featuring exhibitions, archival showcases, a National Lecture Series on Media and Democracy, and a Grand Gala and Awards Night honoring Nigerian media pioneers and cultural trailblazers.

Strategic partnerships are also being formed with universities, private sector leaders, and international organizations to advance media literacy and preserve Nigeria’s journalistic heritage for future generations.

“We are not just celebrating the past,”

Anosike concluded.

“We are creating a platform for the next 100 years of Nigerian storytelling — where heritage becomes the foundation for a new generation of innovation, creativity, and truth.”
