FG Highlights Black Spots of Kidnapping In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has called on Abaji, Kwali and Kuje residents in the territory to be on alert as the administration continue with its measures against kidnapping in the three affected Area Councils.

Director, Security Department FCTA, Adamu Gwary, said reports from the Area Councils indicated that cases of kidnapping were prevalent in those areas.

Gwary who spoke through the Director Administration and Finance, Mrs Ebele Molokwu, advised the residents to be watchful.

“FCT Administration with security agencies are working tirelessly to curb kidnapping in Abaji, Kwali and Kuje Area Councils, we therefore urge the residents to be watchful.

“The areas are far from the city centre so there are reported cases of kidnapping and other issues but we are working on it”

Gwary said the Minister of FCT has approved the purchase of extra security Petro vehicles, through the security department and had engaged with relevant stakeholders regarding the issue of one-chance as well as other matters that bother on security of lives and property.

“The administration is not unaware of the crisis between herders and farmers, and is working with the area councils to make sure that the matter is tackled.

“Sundry crimes are also dealt with by the security agencies. The Minister on assumption of office set up two different task forces that will chase out hoodlums and criminals in their hideouts”

Gwary also disclosed that a total of 64 ‘one-chance’ vehicles have been arrested in the period under review.
