Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has explained why his team lost 1-0 against Everton in Saturday’s Premier League tie.

Arteta watched as Everton defeated Arsenal at Goodison Park, thanks to James Tarkowski’s only goal of the match.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, the Spaniard said that Everton defeated his team because the hosts were good against the Gunners.

According to him, the Toffees made things difficult for his players.

Arteta said, “Well, I think Everton were really good. We have to congratulate them first for how they have turned things around, and I think they made it difficult to win the game because they were really efficient.

“From our side, disappointment because we didn’t get the result that we wanted and the performance doesn’t reflect what we have been doing, especially in two phases – one, when they were really direct and we struggled to control that type of game and get back to the game that we wanted to play, and then with the amount of open situations that we generated in the final third that has to finish with goals and clear cut chances more than we have done today.”
