England 1-1 Norway

England threw away the win over ten-player Norway after a blunder from goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck last night.

The European champions looked set for victory in southern Spain when Rachel Daly, up front in the No.9 shirt rather than her usual full-back role, superbly headed home Chloe Kelly’s cross.

Roebuck had to make fine saves from Sophie Haug and Chelsea’s Guro Reiten in the second half but Norway’s hopes appeared over when Anja Sonstevold was sent off for two fouls on Nikita Parris in the space of six second-half minutes.

But with ten minutes remaining, Roebuck raced off her line to clear a long ball but missed it completely and gifted Frida Maanum of Arsenal an open goal.

It wasn’t the perfect way for Sarina Wiegman’s side to end the year but they have gone through 2022 without losing any of their 20 games, extending her unbeaten run since taking charge to 26.
