The bill, alternatively, provides for judicial officers to spend 40 years in service.

Currently, judicial officers in Adamawa State spend a maximum of 35 years in service or retire when they reach the age of 60.

The passage of the bill on Tuesday came after a motion to that effect by the Adamawa State House of Assembly Majority Leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno, who represents Demsa constituency, and seconded by the Minority Leader, Umar Suleiman Alkali, representing Yola North.

Upon the passage of the bill, the Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, directed the clerk of the Assembly to prepare a copy for the state governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, who is expected to sign it into law.
