Colleagues of Nollywood actor, Akeem Adeyemi, have voiced out their discontent over an attack on the thespian at a movie set in Gbagada, Lagos.
In a video posted via actress, Wunmi Toriola’s Instagram page on Tuesday, Akeem is seen with a bloodied face lamenting the brutal treatment meted against him by street touts.
“See, see what they did to my eyes, when it is not like I stole or did anything wrong, just because I came here to shoot,” he said in Yoruba.
Crying out to appropriate authorities for help, Toriola revealed in the caption that the incident happened at Sawmill area in Gbagada, Lagos.
“See what area boys did. To what end, peaceful filling turned to this. Help, Sawmill Gbagada,” she wrote in the caption.
Giving updates on the incident, veteran actor, Adebayo Salami, revealed that the culprits have been apprehended by the police.
Salami also called on the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria to keep a close eye on the matter and ensure adequate security for filmmakers to prevent future occurrences.
“This is an unacceptable experience. Though I am glad to know that the culprit has been apprehended by officers of the law, I enjoin the leadership of tampanglobal to look into this situation as a matter of urgency.
“The safety and security of filmmakers are paramount to us. Beyond the physical assault, losing a day of production means more money has to be spent above the budgeted funds. No filmmaker wants to go through such stress. So sorry iamakeemadeyemi and other production members,” he wrote on Wednesday.
