The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has rejected the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

INEC had announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had won Saturday’s House of Representatives election in Abeokuta South.

According to INEC, Afolabi Afuape of the APC had polled a total of 19,899, while his closest rival, Toyin Amuzu of the PDP scored 13,663.

But, the PDP agent in Abeokuta South, Lukmon Ogunbayo, said “the results were fraught with many irregularities, inflated figures, manipulations, fraud, over voting and vote buying among other illegalities.”

Ogunbayo said, “having studied the results carefully, the announced results do not conform or reflect the votes and wishes of the people of Abeokuta South Local Government.”

The PDP agent said there were cases of over voting in some polling units, saying, it was discovered that in some instances, the number of total valid votes superseded the number of accredited voters.

This, he described as “an anomaly which can not be overlooked.”

He added further, “There is a case where BVAS could not capture or work properly and the people were allowed to vote in ward 10, unit 6. Incidents of vote buying also pervaded the entire process. Indeed, this is not a true reflection of the votes and wishes of the people.

The House of Representatives results in Abeokuta South are hereby rejected while awaiting further directives from the party,” he said.
