The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed deep concern and sorrow over a wave of terrorist attacks that struck communities in Niger State and Kwara State, leaving multiple casualties, abductions, and widespread trauma.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Forum condemned the Saturday night assault on three communities—Tunga-Makeri, Konkoso, and Pissa—in Niger State, where several residents were killed and others abducted by armed assailants. The NGF commiserated with the government and people of Niger State, describing the incident as a tragic blow to peace and security.

The Forum also conveyed condolences to the people and government of Kwara State following a separate terrorist attack in Woro community of Kaiama Local Government Area, where dozens of civilians were reportedly killed after rejecting a doctrine described as inconsistent with Islam.

“We send our sincerest condolences to all the families who lost dear ones in these unfortunate terrorist attacks, acknowledge and identify with the trauma and pains of the survivors, and pray for the safe return of those still missing,” the statement said.

While commending the security agencies for their courage and sacrifices across multiple theatres of operation, the NGF urged them to deploy the full weight of state power against terrorists and their collaborators. The Forum reiterated confidence in the capacity of Nigeria’s security forces to defeat terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.

The statement was signed by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
