…as APC receives Emmanuel Enoidem into fold amid jubilation in Akwa Ibom
The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for what he described as his outstanding commitment to peace, reconciliation, and inclusive leadership across the state.
Akpabio made the remarks on Thursday at the Etim Ekpo Township Stadium, Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, during a well-attended political gathering that witnessed the formal reception of Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing a massive crowd of party faithful, the former governor of Akwa Ibom described Governor Eno as a rare bridge builder whose leadership style prioritizes unity over division.
“My Governor, you are indeed a practical man of peace and reconciliation. Your visionary and impactful leadership is truly phenomenal, and I am very proud of you,”
Akpabio declared.
The Senate President praised the governor for facilitating the reconciliation of Barr. Enoidem with his political family in the APC, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and unity.
Welcoming Enoidem into the party, Akpabio described him as a man of capacity, integrity, and proven impact, noting that his return would strengthen political harmony within Etim Ekpo Local Government Area and the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District.
“This moment reconnects me to one of my political mentees. Barrister Enoidem represents hard work, steadfastness, and excellent service. His return signifies peace and progress for the entire district,”
he added.
In his response, Governor Umo Eno expressed appreciation to the Senate President for honouring the occasion and for his continued fatherly support toward ensuring unity within the state.
“Our success today would not have been possible without the love, guidance, and support of Senator Godswill Akpabio,”
the governor said.
Governor Eno also commended Barr. Enoidem for demonstrating maturity and patriotism by choosing reconciliation over political discord, describing the move as being in the collective interest of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking earlier, Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem thanked the governor for his persistent reconciliatory efforts and expressed happiness over his reunion with Senator Akpabio, whom he described as his former political mentor.
According to him, the reconciliation was motivated by a shared commitment to peace, development, and the overall progress of the senatorial district and the state at large.
The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Stephen Ntukekpo, praised both Governor Eno and Senator Akpabio for their collaborative roles in restoring unity within the party. He formally received Barr. Enoidem into the APC by decorating him with the party’s insignia.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, Hon. Gideon Noah, described Governor Eno as a stabilizing force whose leadership has prevented political tension and conflict within the area.
Several dignitaries, including the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong; Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo; Ambassador Assam Assam; members of the National Assembly; State Executive Council members; royal fathers; political leaders and supporters, commended the reconciliatory process.
They collectively expressed gratitude for the return of peace in Etim Ekpo ahead of the forthcoming general elections, while applauding the governor’s unifying approach to governance.
The event, marked by celebration and wide participation, was widely described by stakeholders as a turning point toward deeper political stability and development in Akwa Ibom State.
