The Nigeria Police Force, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) initiative, on December 19, 2025, rolled out a nationwide road walk and public sensitization campaign aimed at promoting peace and curbing crime during the festive season.
The campaign, themed “Promoting Peace, Preventing Crime This Christmas,” witnessed police officers across all state commands taking to major streets and public spaces to engage residents, distribute sensitization materials, and educate communities on the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, violence, and other social vices.
Through direct interaction with citizens, the officers emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, responsible conduct during festivities, and community collaboration in crime prevention. Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant, resolve disputes peacefully, and promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
The nationwide exercise underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to proactive, people-centered policing, reinforcing trust between the police and the public. It also aligns with broader efforts to ensure a safe, peaceful, and crime-free environment for Nigerians during the Christmas season and beyond.
The Police reiterated that community partnership remains a cornerstone of effective policing and assured citizens of sustained engagement through initiatives such as POCACOV to address the root causes of crime and promote national unity.
Newspot Nigeria reports that the campaign forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to deepen community policing and strengthen public confidence in security institutions across the country.
