OYO —The Oyo Alaafin Palace has formally announced the constitution of the Imamate Inauguration and Turbaning Committee ahead of the installation ceremony of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Kingdom, scheduled for December 6, 2025.
In an official statement released on Monday, the Palace confirmed that the committee was approved by the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Kingdom, Sheikh Imam Billal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, to coordinate and supervise all preparations for the historic inauguration.
The Committee will be chaired by Imam Daud Igi Ogun, Khadeemul-l-Muslimeen of Oyo Kingdom. The full list of members includes:

- Prince Lateef Owoade
- Alhaji Rasaq Ogunbado
- Dr. AbdulMumeen Hamzah
- Alhaji Rauf

Speaking with newsmen, the media aide to the Grand Chief Imam, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, confirmed that the committee has already commenced work. He noted that the team is expected to deliver “a well-organised, dignified and culturally befitting inauguration in line with the rich Islamic and royal heritage of Oyo Kingdom.”
He added that further details regarding the venue, order of events and the full programme schedule would be released in due course.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, November 17, 2025, the committee was approved by the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Kingdom, Sheikh Imam Billal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, to coordinate and oversee all preparations for the historic event.
The Committee is chaired by Imam Daud Igi Ogun, Khadeemul-l-Muslimeen of Oyo Kingdom, with other members including Alhaji Chief Tajudeen Kamarise, Prince Lateef Owoade, Alhaji Rasaq Ogunbado, Dr. AbdulMumeen Hamzah, Alhaji Rauf, Dr. Ismail Abdur-Raheem Katayeyanjue, Hon.
