— New initiative to upgrade AKBC into a world-class media outfit
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has formalized an agreement with Media Guru Consultant, LLC, Dubai, to commence the comprehensive transformation of the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) into a world-class media institution.
The signing ceremony, held at Government House, Uyo, saw the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah. Governor Eno described the agreement as part of his administration’s commitment to modernize state information and communication infrastructure.
According to him, the project’s scope will include consultancy services, structural design, procurement, and installation of modern broadcast equipment—all aimed at repositioning AKBC to compete with leading media establishments within and outside Nigeria.
“This signing ceremony reflects our resolve to fulfill our campaign promise and to equip AKBC to provide globally competitive broadcasting services,”
the Governor stated.
DG: A New Dawn for AKBC
The Director General of AKBC, Mrs. Imaobong Udoh, expressed appreciation to the Governor for initiating the upgrade, describing it as a milestone in restoring AKBC’s prominence in Nigeria’s broadcast industry.
“With this upgrade, Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians in general will witness a new standard of broadcast quality—marked by professionalism, innovation, and excellence,”
she assured.
The event was witnessed by senior government officials including the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien; Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Uko Udom, SAN; and Commissioner for Information, Hon. Aniekan Umanah, alongside AKBC management and staff.
