Thee Vice- Chancellor of Lead City University Ibadan, Prof Kabiru Adeyemo has charged graduating students of the institution to be good ambassadors of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor stated this during the 15th Convocation ceremonies of the institution which was held between Saturday 10th December 2022 and Monday 12th December, 2022.
Professor Adeyemo, said that now “is the time for the graduating students to build on what has been learnt while in school.”
The Vice-Chancellor in his speech also highlighted some of the achievements of the university in the last one year which are: New academic programmes for students, entrepreneurship programmes, recruitment of new staff members, inaugural lectures which were delivered by seasoned professors among others.
Adeyemo however called on the federal government for lasting solution to the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)..
Another aspect of the event, was the convocation Lecture which was delivered by Dr Charles Akinola ,a former Chief of Staff to the immediate past governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
The lecture titled : Interrogating Japa: Youth and Talent, Exodus, National Development In Uncertain Times”, Akinola made spoke of the problem of “Japa Syndrome” which was as a result of inadequate treatment of workers in Nigeria, most especially health workers in the medical industry .
He however said that necessary skills and talents should be introduced to the youths in order to reduce the current trend of why youths prefer to travel out of the country saying further that the federal government should look into the alarming exodus of youths.
He therefore called on the graduands to be innovative in the area of technology, as well as contribute their quota to the political development of the country.

Another important aspect of the programme was the conferment of honorary doctorate degree award to eminent personalities in Nigeria in the person’s of : Emeritus Prof Toyin Falola, Emeritus Prof Alaba Ogunsanwo, Veteran Movie and Film Director Mr Tunde Kelani among others.
