STOCK MARKET OVERVIEW

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed the week on a high note, with the All-Share Index (ASI) rising by 0.75% to 106,074.26 points, and market capitalization increasing by ₦508 billion to ₦66.67 trillion. ​

Trading Activity: A total of 428 million shares worth ₦20.17 billion were traded in 14,284 deals, marking a 30% increase in volume and a 95% surge in turnover compared to the previous day. ​

Top Gainers: Leading the pack were Ikeja Hotel, International Breweries, and Legend Internet, each with a 10% gain, followed closely by Vitafoam Nigeria with a 9.93% increase. ​

Top Losers: On the flip side, Dangote Cement saw a 10% decline, while Regency Alliance Insurance, VFD Group, and Chams experienced losses of 8.06%, 7.57%, and 7.27%, respectively.

Financial Highlights: BUA Cement reported a Q1 2025 profit of ₦81.12 billion, and Transcorp Power Plc posted a ₦32.64 billion profit, reflecting robust performance in the industrial sector. ​

Regulatory Alert: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has urged investors to report any suspected illegal investment schemes, emphasizing the risks posed by Ponzi schemes and unregistered digital asset platforms.
