The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service, ZIRS, has urged political office holders in the state to follow legitimate procedures in paying their taxes with a view to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
Executive Chairperson of ZIRS, Hajiya Rakkiya Ahmed Dodo also urged political office holders in the state to obtain tax clearance certificates.
The ZIRS boss disclosed this during a Zamfara Radio weekly Hausa Phone-in Programme “Da Ruwan Ciki akanja na Rijiya” on Thursday.
Dodo, who spoke through the Secretary of ZIRS, Alhaji Shehu Dandare Gummi, said that the agency was responsible for the collection of taxes.
In a remark, Director Direct Assessment Department of the ZIRS, Hajiya Aisha Aliyu Shu’aibu Kotorkoshi, advised political office holders that are yet to obtain their Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) to do so in order to contribute their quota to the development of the state.
