Yobe Assembly passes YITDA Bill

The Yobe State House of Assembly has passed the bill seeking the establishment of Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA).

The House passed the bill into law after it adopted the report of its standing committee on information.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the passage of the bill, the chairman of the House Committee on Information, Sadiq Yahaya Attajiri, said the agency will assist the government to ensure an effective information technology system in the state.

Attajiri also said the agency will enable the government to train more youth on modern computer skills and technologies to become self-sufficient.

The chairman of the committee further said the YITDA bill has provided that the agency will be headed by a Director-General who must be a person of good character with proven integrity and not less than ten years experience in the information technology field.

According to him, the bill has provided four-year tenure for the Director-General, Chairman and board members and will be renewed for the second term.

The lawmaker commended the members of the house for their contributions towards the success of the bill at all levels.
