At a time when Kano State has suspended the payments of the monthly wages of 10,000 workers employed by the immediate past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hundreds of pensioners are in a joyous mood after they were paid their monthly entitlement by the new administration of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).

The pensioners, who were excited by the prompt payment of their monthly stipend, urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to sustain the tempo and ensure that their accumulated gratuity is settled.

The chairman of the Kano State Pensioners Forum, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, said they had never had it so good before.

He noted: “The commendation is necessary as members were paid not only their pension benefits before the month ending without a single kobo deduction from their pension as was the routine previously.”

He further appealed to the Kano State government to immediately continue the payment of gratuities and death benefits of civil servants who lost their lives during and after eight years of service.
