Argentina and Croatia meet this evening in the first semi-final of the World Cup 2022.

Argentina booked their place in the last four with a penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands, having earlier been pegged back to 2-2 courtesy of two late Dutch goals in normal time.

The Croatians also needed spot kicks to beat Brazil and seal their place in the semi-finals, having scored a dramatic equaliser through Bruno Petkovic with just three minutes remaining on the clock in extra-time.

The South Americans are two games away from their first World Cup title since 1986, whilst Croatia are eyeing their very first having lost in the final to France four years ago.

What is the team news?

Argentina will be without full-backs Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel who are missing through suspension having picked up yellow cards in the victory over the Netherlands.

Papu Gomez is a doubt with the ankle knock which kept him out of the quarter-final date with the Dutch.

Meanwhile in the Croatian camp, there are no new fresh injury or suspension concerns ahead of kick-off, with Borna Sosa having returned from illness for the win over Brazil.
