Civil servants in Oyo State have vowed to continue with their protest until Governor Seyi Makinde addresses them.

The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kayode Martins, made the declaration while addressing journalists on Wednesday.

He was supported by the chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Bosun Olabiyi, who was also at the protest.

Newspot recalls that the workers have been protesting since Monday.

The workers have been clamouring to see the governor since then.

Martins, while speaking, said that although the governor had set up a committee on subsidy removal palliatives eight weeks ago, the committee had not met on the assignment.

He said workers in the state were complying with the directive of its national body to stage the protest.

“The cost of living has become unbearable for the people of Oyo State and Nigeria in general. We in Oyo State have a number of issues that we are protesting against, among which are unremitted deductions of staff cooperative loans, car and housing loans, unpaid promotion arrears, upward review of pensions, and leave bonuses,” he said.
