The Adamawa State Police Command says it has prosecuted 292 of the 714 suspected criminals it arrested from January 2024 till date.
The suspects were picked up in the course of the year for alleged offenses that included armed robbery, kidnapping, rape and culpable homicide.
“The Command successfully got convictions in 292 cases in court processes within the year in view,” the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris said.
At a press briefing on Thursday to mark the end of the year, the CP said the prosecutions his Command made resulted from deliberate efforts to combat crimes in the state.
He mentioned some of the strategies as community policing, intense operational patrols, raiding of black spots and criminal hideouts, quick response to distress calls and visibility policing, among others.
According to him, the strategies and the results are products of his promise.
He explained, “It is pertinent to remind the good people of the State that when I came on board on the 14th February, 2024 as the 32nd Commissioner of Police, I made a pledge that I will fight crime and criminality to the barest minimum.
“To this end, today’s press conference is so special in the sense that we want to showcase to the members of the public and the press, our achievement/successes recorded for the period under my watch. This will enable you to appraise if we have lived up to expectations or not.”
