BBNaija star Venita Akpofure has apologised to the Tiv nation for defaming them with her distasteful comment.
Recall that Venita had claimed that Tiv men give their wives to visitors for ‘entertainment purposes,’ implying that they allow their wives to sleep with their guests for entertainment.
This statement did not sit well with many TIV people, and they trooped to social media to criticise her and called for legal action against her.
In response, Hon. Dickson threatened to take legal action against Venita for her statement and BBNaija organisers for not disqualifying or reprimanding her for defaming their tribe.”
In an interview with media personality Hero Daniels after her eviction from BBNaija All Stars, the mother of two addressed the issue and expressed her regret for the careless comments, especially as her daughters are Tiv.
Venita said;
“The statement I made about Tiv people got twisted a bit. My daughters are actually Tiv. There’s no way I will be trying to make any kind of malicious or slanderous comment towards their people.
Actually, in my season we did a whole play around the Tor Tiv coronation which I participated in and was super excited about.
So, you know, sometimes you will say something maybe it is a little bit carelessly. And I think it got really misconstrued. And for those that are offended by it, I’m regretful about that.”
