SINGAPORE –The United States Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has been confirmed as a key speaker at the 22nd IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, set to take place in Singapore from 30 May to 1 June 2025, according to a statement from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
Widely regarded as Asia’s premier defense summit, the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue is a crucial platform where defense ministers, military chiefs, and policymakers from across the world gather to discuss pressing security challenges and build diplomatic ties across the Asia-Pacific region.
Secretary Hegseth is scheduled to speak on Saturday, 31 May, at 0835 Singapore Standard Time (SGT), where he is expected to outline the U.S. defense posture in the Indo-Pacific, strategic partnerships, and regional deterrence measures.
The summit will officially open with a Keynote Address by French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, 30 May at 2000 SGT, underscoring Europe’s growing involvement in Indo-Pacific affairs.
The event, held at the iconic Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore, has consistently served as a critical venue for both formal addresses and behind-the-scenes diplomacy, fostering cooperation in a region facing complex geopolitical dynamics.
