A United States Navy sailor sustained injuries aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during flight operations in the Arabian Sea.
Military authorities confirmed that the incident occurred on Tuesday while the carrier was conducting routine air operations.
According to multiple reports, between 200 and 290 US Service members have been injured in the conflict with Iran since the war began in February. However, a total of 13 have been confirmed killed in action.
Newspotng gathered that the injury was not combat-related, and officials described the sailor’s condition as non-life-threatening.
The injured sailor was immediately moved from the aircraft carrier to a medical facility on shore for further treatment.
“A U.S. Navy Sailor was injured aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) while the aircraft carrier was conducting flight operations in the Arabian Sea on March 25. The injury is not combat-related nor life-threatening,” United States Naval Forces Central Command stated.
Officials said the sailor remains in stable condition while authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The Sailor has been transported ashore for additional medical care and remains in stable condition. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation,” the command added.
The military also confirmed that the carrier strike group continues operations in the region despite the incident.
“The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group continues to conduct strike missions in support of Operation Epic Fury,” the statement said.
The aircraft carrier is part of the United States naval presence in the Middle East as tensions remain high in the region.
