The University of Port Harcourt has dismissed as false a report from a viral video claiming a python was killed in one of its campuses.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, Sammy Kpenu, the university described the video circulating online as entirely baseless and a fabrication by mischief makers.

The statement emphasized that the University of Port Harcourt remains “a safe, secure, and conducive environment for learning, research, and other legitimate activities.”

The institution condemned the “misinformation”, describing it as the handiwork of individuals seeking cheap popularity, attention, and online followership at the expense of the university’s peace and reputation.
