The Coalition for Transparency, Equity, and Justice, a leading CSO focused on accountability, has raised serious concerns about the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy.
The group is questioning the alleged allocation of N4 billion for office rent by Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa’s ministry, particularly the alleged payment of N3 billion in instalments without Federal Executive Council (FEC) approval.
The coalition is also critical of the minister’s appointment of 50 aides, calling it excessive and unnecessary. Further, they are concerned about the appointment of Ahmed Sodangi as Director-General of the National Gallery of Arts, citing his lack of relevant experience in the arts sector and alleged family ties to Minister Musawa.
The ministry has denied these claims, with Dr. Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, the Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, asserting that the ministry operates from the Federal Secretariat and has not rented any N4 billion office space. She also refuted the allegations of family connections and excessive aide appointments.
