An English broadcaster and journalist, Piers Morgan has backed the United Kingdom Supreme Court ruling on the definition of ‘woman’ under the country’s equality law, which refers to biological sex.
The Deputy President of the Supreme Court, Lord Hodge, disclosed a summary of the decision to the public on Wednesday.
The ruling has sparked reaction on social media.
Reacting, Morgan wrote on X, “The consequence of today’s UK Supreme Court ruling on women/biology is that while trans people should be entitled to the same rights to fairness, equality, and safety as anyone else—and I sincerely believe that—they can’t erode women’s rights in the process.”
Earlier, JK Rowling, a British writer, also backed the UK Supreme Court ruling.
Meanwhile, an X user known as SugarGSP and identified as transgender condemned the ruling.
“The UK is so fucked. Supreme Court, you have essentially ruined any kind of social presence for many trans people,” the user wrote on X Wednesday.
The development comes after United States President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February 2025 banning biological men from women’s sports.
