The endorsement meeting, which held on Sunday in the North-East, turned chaotic after key party figures, including APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and North-East zonal leader Mustapha Salihu, failed to mention Mr Shettima in their speeches.

Delegates and party members at the event were angered by the omission and disrupted the gathering in protest.

It took the intervention of Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Vice Chairman (North-East), to calm the situation after he mounted the podium and acknowledged the vice president.

Reacting to the incident on X on Sunday, Bashir Ahmad, an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari, warned that ignoring the vice president in such conversations could damage the unity of the party.

He wrote, “Those deliberately mentioning President Tinubu’s name in the context of 2027 while conveniently ignoring his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, are not acting in the best interest of our great party, the APC.

“In politics, both what is said and what is left unsaid can be interpreted in many different ways. What we know is that it is a BAT/KSM joint ticket,” he wrote.
