Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared a contrary opinion to giving pastors your first salary, asserting a child’s first salary should be taken to his father for blessing in line with the Igbo culture.
The actor aired his opinion on Instagram in a video, using his son, Clinton Onyeze as an example after he had received his N50k income from a movie production.
Kanayo requested a ₦500 note while he blessed his son and prayed over the money. He noted that it is mandatory for a father to know his son’s earnings so he can teach him financial management.
However, a father can decide to collect a certain amount or the entire salary, depending on the individual. He also added that a father is superior to a pastor according to the Igbo culture.
He captioned the post,
“Take your first SALARY to your father for his blessings NOT TO YOUR PASTOR.
And to that Pastor who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/ transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?
CHRISTIANS WAKE UP. This is not Christianity”
