The best is yet to come. Going by the annual convention of Tabitha New Life Foundation held on the 18th of August 2023 at the Heritage multipurpose hall, Giwa/Iju-Ishaga Lagos.
It was another time to mark the fourth anniversary of the humanitarian outfit established to spread smiles on the faces of widows and widowers. The primary assignment as conceived by the Convener of the program, Ambassador Adunke Omowonuola Olatunji President, Tabitha New Life Foundation is lifting and helping indigent widows and widowers that can not make ends meet after the passing of their loved ones. Practically, it has been a journey of actualization and success as these categories of people have been smiling home on monthly basis.
Interestingly, the NGO’s monthly empowerment program usually give out initial capital outlay to 20 members who have been trained or identified with specific trades. When set up, it will be a subsistence source of earning at the same time growing the business to sustain his or her livelihood.
Many have passed through this system and are enjoying the fruits of their businesses.
The fourth anniversary came with its peculiarities cum success. There is no other way to describe the event than to tag it mission accomplished. Though, the theme of this year’s anniversary was tagged “GREATER ASSIGNMENT” which can only be achieved with the help of God and the few chosen as partners and supporters to accomplish this glorious task.
As its characteristic of the humanitarian outfit, many widows could hide not their feelings as their emotions betrayed them as they burst into tears when some of them received the good news of carting home machines, tools, equipment ranges from Sewing Machines, Grinding machines, Chest Freezers, Refrigerators, Pop Corn machines, Giant catering gas burner, Gas cylinders and Standing hair dryers for their professional activities so that their hands will no longer be idle. As often said, an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr. Tunde Arini, a philanthropist and scholar of note was very emphatic in his brief keynote address advising the favored ones to use and manage the tools in the best way that will not only add to their lives but put them at an advantage of becoming a giver and helper of society in the future. He emphasized that if individuals portray their trade in profitable manners, in no distant future society will be better with their contributions.
The Special guest of honor and keynote speaker, Olori (Dr) Ranti Ajayi. …. President and CEO of fertility facility and Woman with … respectfully as represented by Mrs. …….. Charged the widows and the audience to be a good ambassador of whatever capacity we represent. We should touch life positively while we are still here. Life is transient and we can only be remembered for what we did while living. She said the best way to live is to be a giver who puts smiles and not cry on people’s faces.
One of the high points of the celebration was a brief stage play where philanthropic gestures were encouraged, as coordinated by Mrs Obuseh in Owulabagbin widows’ group.
This vision of assembling indigent widows and widowers was revealed to the Convener, Ambassador Adunke Omowonuola Olatunji in a dream four years ago since then, she never looked back or declined to pursue it. it is gradually fulfilling its purpose of lifting the poor, idle, and jobless widows from their despicable state to considerable blessed moments as Tabitha New Life Foundation is transforming into a global brand with branches in 29 states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Nigeria with representative in Africa Europe, America and middle east.
Also, the President reiterated her pledge that as long as the Partners, Supporters, and Helpers of destinies that keep funding the NGO are getting blessed and lifted thereby throwing their weights and power behind Tabitha New Life Foundation, the affected widows will not stop laughing and lifted.
The BoT chairman, Mr Olatunji Ijidolire was filled with joy as all plans to bail out another set of widows came to pass. He advised the widows to be frugal in managing their resources especially when the country is at the moment going through economic recovery that makes money a scarce commodity. The social aspects of life that distract must be put aside and focus on the set goal.
