The lawmakers assured Nigerian workers that they would consider and approve the proposal when transmitted to the National Assembly by the presidency.

In a statement, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Publicity, Akin Rotimi, said the green chamber also welcomes the palliatives announced by President Bola Tinubu towards alleviating the adverse economic effects resulting from the removal of fuel subsidy.

The House noted that interventions in the manufacturing sector through support for small and medium-scale enterprises as well as other integrated interventions would stimulate economic productivity, boost agriculture production, create jobs, and improve living conditions.

The House pledged to be alive to its constitutional obligations to effectively monitor all entities of government responsible for the deployment of palliative measures.

Newspot recalls that President Tinubu, during yesterday’s nationwide broadcast, said the Federal Government is working in collaboration with the labour unions to introduce a new national minimum wage for workers.

“I want to tell our workers this: Your salary review is coming. Once we agree on the new minimum wage and general upward review, we will make budget provision for its immediate implementation,” Tinubu said.
