State of Emergency: I don’t see Wike’s hand in Rivers crisis – AGF, Lateef Fagbemi

Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, on Wednesday refused to blame Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, for the declaration of State of Emergency in Rivers State.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on Tuesday night declared State of Emergency in Rivers.

Tinubu blamed the development on the protracted political crisis in the oil-rich state.

He also suspended the governor, Siminalayi Fubara and House of Assembly members for six months, and appointed former Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok Ibas, as sole administrator to run the affairs of the state.

Speakingwith journalists on Wednesday, Fagbemi suggested Fubara took the law into his hands by destroying the State House of Assembly Complex, adding that he doesn’t sees Wike’s hand in the state’s crisis.

“Where do you put the Minister of FCT (Wike) in this case? Was he the one who asked for the demolition of the House of Assembly?

“Was he the one who said the governor shouldn’t present the budget to the House Assembly? I don’t see his hand here,” Fagbemi said.
