Shettima off to America for 2024 US-Africa Business Summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima will depart Abuja tonight for Dallas, United States of America to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit hosted by the Corporate Council on Africa.

A statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, stated on Sunday that Shettima will join other political and business leaders across Africa, the United States of America and beyond for the summit that will feature high-level dialogues, networking business sessions and a plenary, all scheduled for the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas.

Nkwocha added that African presidents expected at the summit include Joseph Boakai (Liberia), Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi), Joao Lourenço (Angola), Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi (Botswana) and José Maria Neves (Cape Verde). Nthomeng Majara, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, is also expected at the summit.

Besides the summit plenary, Shettima is expected to speak at the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment with a focus on impact and returns. He is scheduled to speak on a high-level panel on agribusiness, focusing on “transiting from food insecurity to thriving agribusinesses.”

The Vice President will also speak at a plenary session on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future as well as chair a session dedicated to promoting the Invest in Nigeria initiative.

He is also expected to attend other meetings and engagements on the sidelines of the summit.
