Seyi Tinubu Flies in Presidential Jet for Polo Tournament’s Final in Kano.

Seyi Tinubu,son of President Bola Tinubu was on Sunday 8 October 2023 flown to Kano in a presidential jet as guest at the finals of this year’s edition of the Kano International Polo Tournament.

He was received with a red carpet welcome at the airport by some government officials of the Presidency, the Kano State government and the Kano Polo Club.

The son of the President and his friends landed after he landed in Kano around midday was chauffeured to the Usman Dantata Polo Ground amidst tight security.

The son of the President and his entourage after watching the final matches of the two-week tournament returned to Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) aboard the Presidential jet.

The incident attracted criticisms from different quarters saying how illegal and improper for (Seyi) to use the presidential jet.

The reaction from, a London-based Nigerian journalist Jaafar Jaafar on X (formerly Twitter), vehemently kicked against the act and actions of the son of the President, emphasizing that this was an offence to the moral code of leadership

‘Here’s Tinubu’s golden child, Seyi, travelling in a presidential jet to watch polo in Kano… Even if our laws are vague on this, one thing is clear: this is an offence to the moral code of leadership’, the angered Jaafar declared

Another user of the micro-blogging platform, who identified himself as Aliyu, while reacting to the journalist’s comment, said it was essential for leaders to uphold ethical standards and set a good example for the public.

‘The use of presidential jets for personal or non-official purposes by public officials can raise concerns about transparency and accountability. It’s essential for leaders to uphold ethical standards and set a good example for the public. Transparency and adherence to rules can help combat corruption and ensure that government resources are used responsibly’, Aliyu said

Another X user, Bello Anka in his own reaction noted the use of special forces unit as his bodyguards for the President son was a misused opportunity, adding that that was a continuation of the culture of impunity from the previous government,

This is just a continuation of the culture of impunity from the previous government, perhaps on an even grander scale this time’, he said
