Saudi Arabia to broadcast Arafah sermon in 37 languages, including Hausa, Yoruba

Saudi Arabia has announced that this year’s Arafah sermon will be broadcast on June 5 (9 Dhul Hijjah 1446) live in 37 languages including 3 prominent languages in Nigeria; Hausa, Yoruba and Fulani.

The announcement was made by the Saudi authorities, as part of an effort to promote inclusivity, and global awareness of the Hajj pilgrimage and its significance, and to reach a broader audience.

“The Hajj Khutbah 1446 will be translated into 34 languages on Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446,” the post reads.

“The languages include Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), Hausa, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Filipino (Tagalog), Amharic (Ethiopia), Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Fulani (Fula), Somali, Rohingya, and Yoruba.” the statement revealed.

The Day of Arafat, which is June 5 of this year, is regarded as the most significant day during the Islamic pilgrimage of Hajj, it is the day, when pilgrims assemble at the plains of Mount Arafat in prayer and reflection while Muslims around the world observe the day by fasting and praying.
