The Raw Materials Research and Development Council, RMRDC, is seeking collaboration with the Niger State Government towards harnessing the abundant deposits of kaolin in the state.
The state coordinator of RMRDC, Yakubu Mohammed, who called for the collaboration during a familiarization visit to the Niger State Ministry of Mineral Resources in Minna, said the state is blessed with abundant untapped natural resources.
He explained that if properly harnessed, Kaolin could position Niger State at the forefront of governance in the country by meeting 80 per cent of its revenue needs.
He said, “Koalin deposits in Niger State are of the highest grade, including their significant economic potential. Thirty tons of Kaolin could be produced daily, signaling a substantial opportunity for economic growth and development.”
Yakubu appealed to the Niger State Government to collaborate with RMDC to fully explore and capitalize on the available opportunities.
Responding, the state Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Garba Sabo Yahaya, assured of the Niger State Government’s readiness to forge a partnership in the development of Kaolin resources.
He added that collaboration between the state and the RMRDC will help in unlocking economic opportunities and spearhead the socio economic growth and progress of the state.
