Remains of elder statesman, Fidelis Kaigama arrive Jalingo amid tributes

The remains of late elder statesman and former Federal Permanent Secretary, Fidelis Kaigama, has arrived in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Newspot reports that Kaigama’s body was flown into the state via the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo.

It was received on behalf of the state government by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, John Kizito Bonzena.

Speaking at the airport, Bonzena described death as a necessary end for all mortals and urged Kaigama’s family to draw strength from their faith.

Following a brief reception, the remains were transported to the Federal Medical Center in Jalingo, where it was deposited in the mortuary ahead of funeral rites.

As at the time of filing this report, tributes have continued to pour in from across the country for the late Kaigama.

Elder statesman Sir Pius Isa Dauda and Taraba State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, also applauded his unwavering commitment to public service and his lasting contributions to Taraba State and the country.

Many who spoke with our reporter described his passing as a significant loss to both the state and the nation.

Kaigama died on June 6, 2025, in Abuja, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.

In a condolence message to the people of Taraba, President Bola Tinubu described the late Kaigama as a revered mentor who “shaped minds with wisdom, guided hearts with compassion, and brought discipline and inspiration to the workplace”.
